Potatso Lite Setup Guide
Potatso Lite is a free proxy client for iPhone and iPad with a simple interface, suited to people who only need the basics. It hasn't been updated in a long time, though, and its support for newer protocols is limited.
| Platforms | Source | Price | Where to get it |
|---|---|---|---|
| iPhone · iPad | Closed source | Free | App Store outside mainland China |
How to get it
Potatso Lite isn't available in the mainland China App Store. Sign in to the App Store with an Apple ID from another region, such as the US or Hong Kong, then search for Potatso Lite and install it. Afterwards, you can switch back to your usual Apple ID.
Setup
Get a subscription
Potatso Lite is only a client and does not include any servers. Get a subscription from your provider first.
Import the subscription
Use any of these methods:
- One-tap import: tap the "Import to Potatso" (or similar) button in your provider's dashboard to open the app and import automatically.
- Scan a QR code: tap + in the app, choose QR Code, and scan the subscription QR code from your provider.
- Add manually: copy the subscription link, tap +, choose to add a URL, paste the link, enter a remark, and tap Done.
Turn on the proxy
Make sure the subscription you just imported is selected, then tap the round switch in the bottom-right corner. The first time, iOS asks to add a VPN configuration. Tap Allow and confirm with your passcode or Face ID. When the switch changes to a stop icon, you're connected.
Choose a routing mode
- Smart Routing: rule-based routing; recommended for daily use.
- Global Proxy: all traffic goes through the proxy; use it only temporarily when a specific site doesn't load correctly.
